European Relief Aid is a voluntary organization which started in 1985 when a group of men from a Baptist church in Merthyr Tydfil saw the desperate state of children in orphanages throughout Poland, over the years the group has moved on to work in Albania and now in Romania, the group has grown also with members of the Apostolic church, A.O.G Church Rogerstone and Elim Church joining to help with the work with these abandoned children.

We have been going to Sighetu Marmatiei, in the Maramures region of north west Romania for over 10 years now, last year the director for social services for that area thanked us for our continual help and support. The director of the old peoples home that we go to said that “even though you are a small group we know that when you say you will be back to help us, you mean it” unlike other big charities that can’t wait to move on to their next project we have stayed committed to these children, adults and their carers.
